$VARIANT

Hi, Xiplus, and thank you very much for helping to test out the terminology gadget!

There is a kind of hidden feature of it that I made after I saw Portal:Zh/Glossary/General. Since that page shares a glossary for several variants, I implemented a feature where you can have only one terminology for several languages, and variants are set as being redirects to one of the language codes.

With this, there is a special magic word that only works in the gadget, that I called $VARIANT. That way we can define Portal:Zh/terminology.json as the main terminology page for Chinese, and in the translation and usage notes fields we can create a special template that is like (this is just an example) {{zh|$VARIANT|simplified translation|traditional translation|sg=Singaporean translation}}. This way it can be easier to keep terminology consistent even across different language variants, without entering everything twice (and trying to keep it in sync).

What do you think, should we try to implement this for Chinese + variants? I can help with the practical stuff of course.
