Introduction

Hi!

You are now on my user page. I haven't much intention to add too many stuff here, but I believe some kind of brief introduction is in order, so here it goes.

I am Hungarian, living in a small village in the close vicinity of the capital, Budapest. I was born in 1984 and have since attended two colleges (intntl relations and hotel management), completed a course in system administration and am currently studying English culture and language at ELTE university.

I became addicted to computer games when I was about 7 and have learned a great deal of my english from playing them. I also do a lot of role-playing, mainly a locally published one called M.A.G.U.S., but also some better known ones, such as DND, Vampire, Cyberpunk, etc.

I have recently went from that 'other' OS to Linux (openSUSE 11, GNOME) and I like it very much, so I am trying to find ways to contribute to its developement as much as I can. However, as I don't know much about programming I would like to help with the localization of various games and applications.

If you like, you can contact me at kovosz.

Best wishes, leiric.

Current project

I am now working on a rough translation for temporary use in FreeCol. Later on I am going to check the texts for coherence and spelling, to improve the quality of the messages. Finding the right phrases and words in hungarian to fit the era is proving to be a bitch, by the way. :)

FreeCol progress log

New and fuzzy messages translated, committed. -- Leiric 09:51, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Coherence and spellcheck

  • Done.

This will start after the completion of the rough translation, currently there might be some incoherency (same message w/ different wording or structure) and probably a few typos (though I'm trying to avoid them). This phase is scheduled to start tomorrow on Thursday, 13th of November, 2008.

I am ahead of my schedule, just finished the first phase. Starting on this phase -- Leiric 22:59, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Had to completely re-install my box, after a serious crash... Still don't know what caused it, but this, combined with some other personal matters threw me back a bit. I hope to complete the game messages by the end of next week. -- Leiric 01:10, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Unless I missed something, the messages should now be complete, coherent and typo-less :) -- Leiric 09:02, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

In-game use

I filed a commit request, and am waiting for the changes made so far to appear in-game. This phase starts as soon as I see the translation in action, so I'll be able to see where and what needs to be changed.

Just downloaded the new 0.8.0 build, and I already see some problems, which will be corrected ASAP. I hope to start some serious work on the project after the 25th, the end of my exam period. Feel free to mail me if you happen to understand hungarian and come across any mistakes! -- Leiric 03:19, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Still keeping up with the game, finding translations increasingly to my satisfaction. If you speak hungarian and play the game, please contact me with suggestions if you have any. -- Leiric 00:10, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
