Bienvenido a Betawiki!

Hi Piolinfax. Welcome to Betawiki. Before you can use Special:Translate, and Special:Magic, please request translator rights at Betawiki:Translators. Please create a user page on which you describe which language(s) you will be working on. If you are going to be an active user here, please also add your name to the languages you will be working on at Translating:Languages. For an overview of the languages that are being worked on here, you can have a look at Translating:Developer log. Other useful pages can be Support and Import requests.

Once you have started translating, please remember to often request a commit of your translation work at Translating:Tasks. This makes the number of changes easier to handle for the devs.

I wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Cheers! SPQRobin 22:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Besitos, --Spacebirdy 16:00, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Oki, puedes contactarme si necesitas ayuda, (a lo mejor en is. o es.wikt porque aquí no hay enotify y no estoy vigilando este proyecto todos los días :) )

Answers to your questions on your user page

  1. Betawiki gets some money for the ads (but I don't know for what it is used exacly). Anyway it will certainly be used for a good purpose. Btw, you can easily hide them by putting #p-adsense { display:none; } in Special:Mypage/monobook.css.
  2. This wiki is not part of the Wikimedia Foundation.

And, I hope you will not leave. Greetings, SPQRobin 16:06, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your explanation, SPQRobin. Sorry it took me so long to answer. I do not get into the internet so often now and I do not do it from home since the beginning of this month: I had to find my way into Betawiki because I have no direct link to it in the computers I use now. Thanks for the tip for hiding the ads but I personally do not heed them. The problem I see is the fact that this place has publicity and it is not a Wikimedia project but nonetheless it provides a very basic service for Wikimedia with the work of voluntary people, most of them, if not all, from Wikimedia projects... I find it both puzzling and disturbing and makes me have second thoughts about some things that used to be quite clear for me months ago, so I will not contribute here until I get a clearer picture about the implications of it. Is there another way to make the same job through a Wikmedia place even if it means working more slowly or in poorer infrastructural conditions? Regards. --Piolinfax 16:09, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Why is it so important for you to work on an official Wikimedia project? There is no big difference between working on a Wikimedia wiki and working on Betawiki. Where I do agree with you is that this site provides an important part of Wikimedia/MediaWiki, localisation. Anyway, I still don't understand why you should leave because this isn't part of Wikimedia. Greetings, SPQRobin 18:53, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

26 translators and Spanish still in pretty bad shape

Hi. I am writing a nosy note to all Spanish translators. This is because I see that 26 users have got translator rights for Spanish, and the Spanish localisation for many of the products we have at Betawiki is still in quite an awful shape. I am wondering if you have any ideas why this could be? We usually see here that a locale can be flourishing when only a handful of translators are working on it, or even just one or two. If you think I can help out somewhere, please let me know. I would also urge you to take responsibility, and make an effort you raise the completeness and quality of the Spanish localisation for the products that we have here. You can talk with your fellow Spanish translators on Portal_talk:Es, and general support requests can be asked on Support. I hope to see many contributions and/or ideas by you soon. Cheers!
