Just in case

Soroush, in case you had an idea to share about Persian messages, post on my talk page. Huji 17:18, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

About the Persian writing style, please don't make any changes, before we reach some consensus about it. In particular, do not make any change which is against what "Farhangestan" suggests; for example, do not change هٔ to ه‌ی or something like that. Huji 19:07, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I exactly mean "Farhangestan" suggest. And I'd never done it anywhere else!!! I really wonder of your example and your speech to me!!! for example it was ایمیل in translations but "Farhangestan" suggests رایانامه and now the message in fa.wiki is پست الکترونیکی. I'll change it to رایانامه.--Soroush 19:13, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey, man. I checked all translations. You've done it all very well and mede the required changes. Excellent.--Soroush 19:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Go on with رایانامه and I don't object. About "special": No, the English term Special is prefered to its localized translation. Huji 14:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
But you've already done it. :)--Soroush 19:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

New change

I am about to change all cases of کلمه عبور to گذرواژه for the same reason we discussed above (فرهنگستان). I'm not going to do this through this wiki, but through a fast replacement in the source code and then sending the patch to the developers. I just wanted to inform you about this, to know if you have comments on it. Huji 16:58, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please be aware that you have to change it here anyway... Otherwise this will keep on coming back... Siebrand 17:11, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Huji. According to Siebrand statement, I'll take a look to see how many edits are required. If I can, I'll do it.--Soroush 17:48, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think, I changed all of کلمه عبور to گذرواژه. take another look to it to see if it is Ok. Thanks.--Soroush 18:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

btw, سیستم is سامانه according to "Farhangestan". Do you think, it is Ok to change to that?--Soroush 17:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is one thing I really try to avoid. Although they say سامانه is a good substitute, it is not widely used or even easy to understand for many users, I'm pretty certain. I think it would be a good idea to keep at as is for now. Huji 18:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I included an Editsummary says that for the ones I changed to سامانه. They're very few.--Soroush 19:00, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mordad

About MediaWiki:Iranian-calendar-m5/fa, I think it is a good idea to ask for other's input about this as well. I have a voting run (about translating Watchlist as پیگیری‌ها instead of تعقیبات) (see wikipedia:fa:وپ:قخ) and I will hold a new voting (after this one is finished) about the "Mordad"/"Amordad" issue. Huji 17:26, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

According to a concensus in fa.wikipedia.org when sb selects a name for sth others do not change them unless they make a consensus against it. According to my opinion if you want to make a concensus you should make it for مرداد and voting to select the name of امرداد doesn't make a sence to me and moreover please do that after this calendar's programme will be committed in mediawiki so it will be like other system messages in mediawiki to be changed.--Soroush 10:54, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Seems like we have different points of view here. I think we should use the name which is commonly used. مرداد is not wrong, is it? Maybe, for some languistic reason, امرداد is the original word, but people using MediaWiki are not linguistics, and I think you agree that مرداد is the word commonly used (and also used in official writing at the moment). So I will still stick with مرداد with that reasoning. Huji 20:09, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually the consensus on wikipedia was for such things. It prevents waste discussions. Actually Mordad was incorrectly used and Amordad was the correct. Mordad means "Mortality" and Amordad means vice versa. If we select Amordad others will know it is mordad and I'm sure if you choose Mordad some people will try to change it to Amordad as other incorrect common words people are used to use in fa.wikipedia. As I'm not interested in those eternal discussions I prefer Mordad which is the correct and my action according to a consensus in the talk of wikipedia:fa:وپ:سره and recent ones is correct as you can an example of usage of this in the talk page of testing main page.(Mani suggested تصویر to be changed by نگاره and Hessam memorized him that consensus.) Now if you want to begin a discussion for a thing has never been used, you're doing a new thing. No one had done such thing before and you hadn't asked for your translations before too. If you want to begin this, the time is after committing it in mediawiki but if you really prefer مرداد I suggest you to change it now to مرداد now and I will never begin such discussion because there are many more important things in Persian wikipedia to be done.--Soroush 12:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
