About [[MediaWiki:Lockmanager-fail-db-bucket/en]]

This message is somewhat cryptic to me.

  • What is a "bucket" in its context?
  • What are "lock databases"?

If anyone happens to know …

Any string used as a lock name maps to a "bucket", which is a basically a set of 1 or more database servers that must agree that a lock can be acquired. The databases just store what is locked by who.

Thanks for the reply, Aaron. I've added the above explanation to MediaWiki:Lockmanager-fail-db-bucket/qqq.

On User:Aaron Schulz there are more questions about messages in code you're most likely the maintainer for. Could you please have a look at those, too? Thanks.
