In the original English the message C54cf60f4b8bf408ff4ffd09eb63d25f3bb928f9-We_use_now_a_href="_s"_transla ("We use now <a href="%s">translatewiki.net</a>, a localisation platform, to translate NOCC:") should be "We now use..."

Needs date and time separated as per mw:I18n#Separate_times_from_dates_in_sentences.

English text seems incomplete? Lego message?

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)19:45, 16 May 2014

It is split in Html send recover1 and Html send recover2. I dont know why. But also it is not used any more, I will remove them asap.

I've added message documentation based on a guess, it needs confirmation, and the word "likely" removed.

They seem to be using trac on sourceforge. Sourceforge has deleted all user passwords after a cracking attempt. I have spent over an hour to figure things out, find bugs in the procedure to recover new passwords, and so on, finally got one, but even when logged in, I cannot access trac for writing: TICKET_CREATE privileges are required to perform this operation

I am giving up. If someone else has better access to NOCC, please forward a link to this thread (http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Thread:Support/Nocc:C780de0d3ac3c245b859f5a2b8e4782ec30f8e3d-Y-m-d/qqq)

Also, there is another bug to report: http://nocc.sourceforge.net/screenshots/?lang=ksh This page has garbled texts underneath 3 of the 5 images. Thank you.

Purodha Blissenbach00:27, 10 May 2011

Unsurprisingly it breaks if you add html to places where it is not supported.

Nike07:21, 10 May 2011

Escaping these messages wouldn't hurt. I can imagine some translator using "-marks here.

Nike07:22, 10 May 2011

NOCC Developers should find a way to fix this. There are places where you cannot do without correct language tagging (which I believe might be the cause of trouble here) and when you reuse a message (which seem to be done here) you must take care to keep markup in place where it has to appear, and strip it, where it must be not (inside html attribute values for instance) - after all, either is easy ;-)

Purodha Blissenbach11:58, 10 May 2011

There is currently exactly one NOCC developer. The website is also in the subversion repo. If you really, really care, please have a look at the code and submit a patch. I'm certain he will apply it.

Siebrand09:45, 11 May 2011

Is this language tagging really needed and which benefits has it for the user?

message Nocc:E9488558518436b6f2fa83e8cdc0f540291dbe11-Download_the_current_NOCC_vers

In the message E9488558518436b6f2fa83e8cdc0f540291dbe11-Download_the_current_NOCC_vers ("Download the current NOCC version <strong>%1$s</strong> which was released at <strong>%2$s</strong>:") I guess that %1$s is the version number. I guess that %2$s is the time followed by the date. If so, is it possible to amend this to show the time and date separately, assuming that some languages will need these to be separated?

Lloffiwr19:26, 8 May 2011

In this case is only the date without time shown:

"Download the current NOCC version 1.9.1 which was released at 2011-03-26:"

Gerundt13:05, 14 May 2011

In that case can you change "at" to "on" in the original English message?

Lloffiwr15:28, 14 May 2011

Thanks for the hint! This is now changed in SVN: http://nocc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/nocc?revision=2441&view=revision

Default_time_format

The message Default_time_format ("%I:%M %p") has defeated me! Looking up the php manual I find that

  • I = Whether or not the date is in daylight saving time
  • M = A short textual representation of a month, three letters
  • p = ?

Help needed.

Lloffiwr15:23, 2 May 2011

This are parameters from the PHP strftime() function:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.strftime.php

  • %Y = Four digit representation for the year
  • %m = Two digit representation of the month
  • %d = Two-digit day of the month (with leading zeros)
  • %I = Two digit representation of the hour in 12-hour format
  • %M = Two digit representation of the minute
  • %p = UPPER-CASE 'AM' or 'PM' based on the given time

Date and time notation on NOCC

The default date format on NOCC is Y-m-d which I understand to mean Y=year, m=month and d=day. The default time format is I-M-p. What do these letters stand for? And what software uses this notation? I have googled this but without success. My aim is to write this up on FAQ and on the relevant NOCC message.

Lloffiwr10:21, 2 May 2011

Looking up the php manual hasn't helped.

Html session file error

What is a "session file" in Html session file error ("Unable to open session file for writing.")? Is this talking about opening a specific "session file" which has already been created, in which case the message is about "the session file" rather than "a session file"? Is "session file for writing" a particular type of session file, or is this message the equivalent of "Unable to open the session file in order to write."

Lloffiwr14:15, 2 May 2011

I'd guess it refers to PHP sessions, which be default uses file for each session. Thus no special "session for writing".

Nike17:52, 2 May 2011

Would this error message appear when somebody tried to edit a past session file ( ie reopening a previous session)? Or is it saying that it cannot open a new session file?

I wish English-speaking developers would write either "the" or "a" instead of saving a small amount of space and making everybody else guess the meaning!

Lloffiwr18:20, 2 May 2011

Again, this just a guess, but it just says that the file cannot be written whether it exists or not. This is usually system configuration error.

time to appear in NOCC product

How often are new messages usually committed to NOCC?

How long before committed messages appear in the published product?

Lloffiwr16:10, 2 May 2011

NOCC has a release about every 6 months. I'll be committing last week's translations probably tomorrow for all the products that I support (NOCC included).

Siebrand17:46, 2 May 2011

Is the message Html_wrap ("Number of characters to wrap outgoing messages to:") a tooltip for a preference on the preferences window? Would "number of characters per line in format of outgoing messages" be acceptable as a basis for translation?

Lloffiwr14:57, 2 May 2011

Html_smtp_error_no_conn

The message Html_smtp_error_no_conn ("Unable to open SMTP connection") talks about an "SMTP connection". Could the translations of "route", "pathway", "transmission", "transport" be used if the closest translation of "connection" does not fit?

Lloffiwr14:27, 2 May 2011

message Nocc:Html_modify

What is the context of Html_modify ("Modify")? I cannot find this in any of the screenshots provided.

Lloffiwr13:54, 2 May 2011

Original text is ambiguous: a definition of the term "open source" or possibly a definition of something, and the source of this definition is open?

Purodha Blissenbach12:57, 27 April 2011

I bet they mean this: http://www.opensource.org/docs/osd

What is/are "silk icons" in message B7409930b5212f520102047cf01e35e8b61bcd73-Silk Icons ("Silk Icons")? Just a name that we should not translate? A translateable expression or description? Is "Silk" a person, or a group, or a company? Tx.

Purodha Blissenbach14:47, 27 April 2011

You should really Google more. The first hit? OMG! It's http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/.

Siebrand15:33, 27 April 2011

Yes, sometimes I ask - in this case assuming that at least 4 translators were there who likely already did the needed research, whose translations I knew but left questions open.

Purodha Blissenbach19:11, 27 April 2011

What format chars can I use. I want format like "5.5.2010" or "5. tammikuuta 2010"?

Nike13:33, 26 April 2011

The 1st would be "d.m.Y" and for the 2nd, I do not know. Only reusing existing data. ;-)

Purodha Blissenbach13:55, 26 April 2011

I don't want 01.06.2011
