Alias vs. Nickname

What is the difference between an alias and a nickname?

Application

I have som troubles regarding the word application. Is this supposed to be an application as in the word apply? Or is it supposed to be an application as in a small program/app? Nghtwlkr 19:02, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I've been assuming that it refers to third-party applications with StatusNet support that you can register with a StatusNet installation to allow the application to communicate with it. http://status.net/wiki/Apps

Ahh, thanks! Then I've translated correctly.

Subscribe, listen, follow

While I was translating StatusNet I got the distinct impression that "subscribe to", "listen to" and "follow" are three terms used to denote the same thing, i.e.: follow the notices of a particular user. Is this correct? If so, is there any reason not to translate all three with the same word?
