Hola BicScope, sí, por favor elige español desde tus preferencias, luego puedes traducir los mensajes no traducidos desde special:translate (allí también hay el commonist), por favor no traduzcas variables como {{PAGENAME}} etc. ni nombres de espacio como User: Template: Project: Help: etc.
Si no estás seguro siempre puedes preguntar otros usuarios incluso hay un canal de IRC #mediawiki-i18n
