Hi MRidhaAJ. Welcome to translatewiki.net!

You can now start translating.

You should also check the portal for your language, the link is in the sidebar. Other useful pages are linked in the menu next to this message.

Your translations are transferred to the standard product every few days or every few weeks, depending on the product. Please notice that it may take longer before you see your translation in the actual product.

We wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Please leave any questions on Support (the link is also available on any page, in the navigation sidebar). Cheers!

Welcome!

Hi!

Welcome to translatewiki :)

I see that you've selected Iraqi as one of your languages. Localization help with Iraqi is indeed much-needed.

I've added a list of links to your user page under the title "Links for Iraqi". I recommend going through that list item by item from top to bottom, and translating each item completely.

If you are working with friends, I recommend that each of you picks a different item in the list and complete it.

Please ask me or the Support page if you have any questions. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:45, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, but I have questions:
1. Our acm translators are two only, and I wanna more. How I invite some?
2. How I translate special pages (reply in the link only)
He is MRidhaAJ (talk) 21:24, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
  1. To find more translators, just ask your friends who can write in the language. Send them the link, tell them to create an account, and show them how to translate. If several of you do it, use the list on your user and assign a different item to each of you.
  2. I'm not sure what do you mean by "Special pages". For the most part, the user interface of the special pages is a part of the relevant MediaWiki features. Do you have a particular example of something on a special page that you wanted to translate?
Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 21:28, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
1. Are there some templates for inviting?
2. I mean "Special pages menu" for acm Wikimedia projects
Remember, I am MRidhaAJ (talk) 09:33, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
  1. Not that I know. Just write them something of your own, e.g.: "Hi! You can write in Iraqi. Can you please help to translate the MediaWiki user interface into Iraqi? You can do it on https://translatewiki.net."
  2. I'm still not sure what are you referring to. Where do you see it?
Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:37, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
1. Yes, thanks. But where are you from (I see you Arabic bc of your username)
2. Forget it, Amir, thanks.
MRidhaAJ (talk) 09:51, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, I'm not Arab. I'm from Israel. Amir is a common name in many countries. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:24, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
And I'm from Iraq, wait...what? Israel? MRidhaAJ (talk) 11:46, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fallback

You have translated enough into Iraqi Arabic for full support in MediaWiki!

However, I have a technical question before I can fully enable it. If a message is not translated into Iraqi Arabic, in which language should it be shown? Arabic, English, or something else?

Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:48, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I do not know anything technical but if I have freedom to answer, it is English because it is the original lang of wikimedia progs MRidhaAJ (talk) 10:09, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
No problem, thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:44, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
  1. I want links for translating translatewiki.net
  2. What are fuzzybot works?

MRidhaAJ (talk) 19:16, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

1. If I understand you correctly, you want to translate the user interface of the translatewiki.net site itself. The important things to translate for that are:
  1. Translate extension
  2. Local custom translatewiki messages
A few more things are needed, too, but these are the beginnings. Translating core MediaWiki is recommended, too, but it's very large and may take some time.
If you set the Iraqi Arabic as your user interface language, many things will appear in English, because many things are not yet translated into Iraqi. I set the fallback to English, as you asked. If you want, I can set them to Standard Arabic. Almost everything is translated to Standard Arabic, so you'll see the user interface either in Standard Arabic or in English. Up to you, so you can just ask.
2. FuzzyBot finds messages that need updating and marks them as such. The two most commons reasons why messages need updating are that the English message was updated after it was translated, or that there was a mistake in the translation. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:39, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
1. Yes, do it. + are my translations need to be reviewed before applied?
2. What will I do if fuzzybot marked a correct translation as need updating?
MRidhaAJ (talk) 15:30, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll enable Standard Arabic as the fallback.
Translations here don't need review. They become usable soon after you submit them. (How soon? Depends on the project. Usually not much more than two weeks. Sometimes much less than two weeks.)
If fuzzybot marks a translation as needs updating, just translate again. If it keeps marking it as needs updating and you don't understand why is it happening, ask for help on the Support page. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:50, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I'm now added acm to plurals and that is the trouble. MRidhaAJ (talk) 06:51, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Welp. Mmmm... help

I cannot translate because translatewiki tells me to enable javaScript, but it is enabled.MRidhaAJ (talk) 09:09, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Where do you see it? Can you send a screenshot? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 18:48, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I see it in the project translating page, and every translating page. My device don't take screenshots, so I explain. An err message tells me that javaScript is disabled, failed working, or that browser is not supported javaScript, how to fix? MRidhaAJ (talk) 06:28, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Can you write here the precise error message?
And can you tell which device are you using, and which browser this is? (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Opera, Samsung Internet, etc.) Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:58, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
"this tool won't work without javaScript, JavaScript is disabled, failed in working, or this browser is not supported.".

I use two:

  1. a smart TV → device browser
  2. my mum's phone → Google chrome
  3. my cousin computer → COMING SOON!

all that bc I have no smartphone. MRidhaAJ (talk) 12:52, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

OK. Does it work correctly on any of these devices? Or is it broken on all of them? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:11, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
My smart TV is only the one that have the problem, please do not tell me that its browser is not supported. (Note that I am 11 years old, but good at translating.) MRidhaAJ (talk) 13:26, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, that's exactly what I suspect—that the smart TV is not supported. If you can give any more technical details about, perhaps the technical staff will be able to make it work, but I really can't promise it. Can you say what is the device brand, and from which year is it? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:36, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I said: I don't know everything technical, trademark is general bravo. Do U hav an another plan 2 fix that? MRidhaAJ (talk) 13:39, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I don't know :( Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 15:08, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
So, is there another than the translation tool? MRidhaAJ (talk) 06:57, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I don't understand the question. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 14:20, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

forget, the question is :Is there an translation tool for translatewiki.net like the translation extension? MRidhaAJ (talk) 18:24, 17 April 2023 (UTC)'Reply
Which part do you want to translate? You've been translating Core MediaWiki very well, and you've been using the Translate extension for it.
To translate the user interface of translatewiki.net itself, translate these two projects:
  1. Translate extension
  2. Local custom translatewiki messages
Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:15, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, this is not what I want. Is there a translating tool like the translation extension? MRidhaAJ (talk) 22:12, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
There are many such tools on other websites, such as Crowdin, Transifex, etc. But only translatewiki is used for translating Wikipedia's software. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:55, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
