Low quality of pt and pt-br translations

Low quality of pt and pt-br translations

Is possible to full review users with translation access for pt and pt-br messages to only those that are experienced editors in large public MediaWiki instances?

On [1] and [2] you can see one example of misundertands, including some implicit xenophobic isss between Portugal<>Brazil.

The quality is low in a such level that it's most easy to erase current pt and ptbr translation s and start translating again from the scratch.

Indeed, please someone have to do a full review at contributions of the user above. In European Portuguese, "desfazer" is the most appropriate term to undo an edit. It's not that hard, just consult the dictionary [1] [2]. The only thing this editor does is rollback valid changes without any real reason.

Vitorvicentevalente, thanks for caring about correctness of language, but please don't edit war. You changed a 6+ years old translation for a very visible feature and someone disagreed; the logical action is to restore and discuss. I've not checked other translations but for this specific case please get consensus on portal talk:pt first.

But that word is not appropriate in European Portuguese, perhaps in the Brazilian dialect which he uses. Please, confirm the information on Portuguese dictionary and you'll understand which of the terms is correct.

This is wiki jargon, it can't be judged solely with a standard dictionary at hand nor changed without some consensus.

Nemo (talk)23:47, 3 July 2014

So then we use the wrong term ... that seems right! Well, I'm not going to start any edit war so do what you have to do.

If you don't think that a discussion on Portal:talk:pt will get a lot of contributions because very few users will see it, then please try to discuss this on the Portuguese wikipedia community pages, and then put a link to the discussion on Portal:talk:pt.

I've been informed that Vitorvicentevalente is continuing to edit war, so I'm removing his translator rights.

Vitorvicentevalente, you are advised to make your proposals of translation changes and glossaries here on portal talk:pt so that your fellow translators can decide with you how to translate terms in the future without edit wars. If you prove to be able to collaborate with them, I'll restore your rights.

I mentioned this change in translation at w:pt:Project talk:Reversor#Nome_do_bot.C3.A3o.

555, is this solved?

Nemo (talk)16:47, 27 August 2014

I'm not seeing edit wars any longer, so I'm closing this for now. The only edit wars I found are with a new user who was changing translations without explaining why, e.g. [1]. The discussion has been a bit harsh but respectful.

I still see a great need for pt translators to communicate more on portal talk:pt, so I encourage everyone to watchlist, follow and use that talk page.
