Fragment of a discussion from User talk:Rebelagent

Amir E. Aharoni Well it was supposed to be “Puisano ya Wikipedia" Thank You very much for noticing that.

A few other questions:

  • Media: You translated it here as "Pego". I don't see it anywhere else in the translations of MediaWiki. Are you sure it's correct?
  • Template: You translated it here as "Tempolate", but on this page you translated it as "Tempolete". Which is correct?
Amir E. Aharoni (talk)08:13, 23 July 2022

Hello again from here I will recheck all my translations to avoid this small mistakes it must be “Tempolete" instead of “Tempolate". Henceforth I will be more careful. There is no translation of “multimedia" in Setswana if it is there I've never heard of it, in such cases we translate according to the description meaning you may see me using different translations maybe for “Media". According to the description and examples “pego" is the best word for this one. Can I ask before I started translating here who was translating before? I would like to discuss some words with them. Thanks, I'm not perfect in English but I hope you understand my English.

Your English is fine!

Here are the usernames of previous translators that I could find:

However, they didn't contribute very much, and they haven't been around for several years, so I'm not sure that they'll respond to your questions. Almost no one worked on translations into Setswana for several years until you came!

Another person who can be helpful is User:Bobbyshabangu.

I think that the more realistic options for you to improve are:

  1. To discuss them with other contributors to the Setswana Wikipedia. But there have been very few people lately who did it. You are the all-time top contributor till now! (And a lot of usernames in that list don't actually know Setswana. They are just bots or helpful people who usually write in other languages.)
  2. To discuss them with other people who know the Setswana language well, for example teachers, linguists, journalists, or writers.
  3. To be bold and just fix things yourself! :)

Again “Project talk" is “Puisano ya porojeke" instead of “puisano ya project" also for “publish" please use “Boloka" instead of “Tsenya". Thanks

Rebel Agent (talk)09:35, 23 July 2022

If "publish" is "boloka", then "save" and "publish" have the same translation. They must be different. When something is "published", it must be obvious that it will be shown to other people, whereas "save" means that it can be stored privately.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)14:37, 23 July 2022

Ooh then publish and save are okay as they are , discussing with teachers and other people who speak Setswana is a great idea, I will do it because there are some translations I skipped because I was not sure with the translation, I will start discussing with the teachers on Monday, so I can finish translating Wikimedia important messages soon and focus on Wikipedia Tswana. Yeah I noticed I'm the only active contributor now in the Setswana Wikipedia but according to my research I found out that most of Setswana speakers don't contribute because they don't know about Wikipedia.
