Gadgets-uses

Re: Magic word

I tried doing it awhile back at the MediaWiki wiki, but couldn't figure out a way to succintly translate some pages like Special:Mostimages and Special:Mostrevisions. Except for users of the Firefox 3 betas, the URLs for these pages will show up as a bunch of percent signs, so they won't really see these translations.

In any event, I was referring to variables, not page names.

Sorry for making things difficult. :^) I have a Mac, so it's just Alt+[ and Alt+{. If you're using Firefox, you can bookmark data:text/html,“” with the keyword "curly" or something. That way, all you need to do is open a new tab, type "curly", copy the two characters and paste them into the edit box. Short of that, you should ask someone to add curly quotes to the Special Characters box below. It's probably MediaWiki:Edittools. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 02:47, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

OK, thì người quản lý nghe đúng hơn quản lý viên phải không? Tôi cũng cần phải đổi Wiktionary và Wikibooks để sử dụng "bảo quản viên", để consistent với Wikipedia. Đáng tiếc là không có ai bảo quản Wikisource và Wikiquote được. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 00:16, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Flagged Revs

Undo và revert là hai từ đồng nghĩa trong tiếng Anh, và tôi không thích điều mà MediaWiki phân biệt hai từ này. Có lẽ nên dịch undo (tính năng dành cho mọi người) là "lùi lại" và revert thành "lùi hẳn" hoặc "lùi hàng loạt", vì tính năng revert lùi lại loạt sửa đổi liền của một tác giả. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 03:43, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

That sounds good. The problem is that CURRENTTIME has been translated as GIỜNÀY for a long time already, so we'll be breaking any pages that happen to use it. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 16:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

MediaWiki's old search functionality used to search the source code of each page. But we moved to MWSearch recently (sometime this year?), and it searches only the parsed text. We'd have to search the database dumps themselves, and that'd be painful. It also wouldn't address the issue of non-Wikimedia wikis using GIỜNÀY.

In the meantime, if you know of any Vietnamese Wikipedia user who's inclined to use the localized keywords, please ask them to help change them to the English equivalents. At least we know those'll work, no matter which translation we end up with.
