  • 2009-02-10: MediaWiki uses the pipe sign (" | " - with leading and trailing space) as a separator a lot. A while ago, pipe-separator (" | ") was introduced as an optional message, but is has not been used a lot. Today a lot of changes were made in the background, so that in most places MediaWiki can now use a different separator in case it just looks better, or because the default separator is unnatural in a particular language. Translatewiki.net uses " • " just to make you aware of what it can do, and so that you can report hard coded pipe signs on Support.

  • 2009-02-03: The message group with the most often used MediaWiki core messages has been updated. Many languages have now fallen below the relevant localisation threshold of 98% translated.
  • 2009-02-02: The 'Gadgets' tab in your preferences now contains the option to pre-fill new translations with Google Translate results. In some languages this can save considerable time. Please be aware that the translation suggestions need to be checked, and that !!FUZZY!! is always added, which needs to be remove before saving.
  • 2009-02-01: A new month has started. Changed messages and messages being added to products all the time just shows us that localisation of software is a never ending chase. Please keep coming back to update the localisation of the products you care about as often as you can.
