What is the usecase of this message? Is that an advice to the user, or is it a call to action like a button label?

Jean-Fred (talk)19:44, 16 May 2012

I've documented the message.

About new "Continue editing" link in MediaWiki

Hi. Although I encountered very useful the new "→ Continue editing" link, the text shown by this feature is not always completely self explanatory for those users who have activated the "Show preview on first edit" check box in their options, because the link appears in the very first edit page, when no edition was made at all. The situation is even worst for those who have the "Show preview before edit box" feature active in addition, since a nonsensical "Continue editing" legend appears at the top of the -yet not edited- page.

I remark that the fault is not really the link presence itself, since this feature is useful even in the cited circumstances, but only the text shown.

So, I suggest the text of MediaWiki:Continue-editing/en (and also the name of mediawiki message itself, if possible) should be changed to "Go to editing area" or something so. Thus, the feature will be correctly understood in all cases.

Gustrónico (talk)20:54, 18 May 2012

This should go into bugzilla: to get wider attention.

That <i>must</i> should be <em>must</em>. Btw, may I do these sort of edits myself, without discussion?

Z18:27, 7 May 2012

It's done.

What is the $2 parameter on this message?

555 (talk)03:23, 6 May 2012

Thanks for asking. I've documented the message. $2 is an edit summary.

translation of "entry point"

In Version-entrypoints ("Entry point URLs") I do not understand very well what an 'entry point' is, despite reading the wikipedia article on this and Special:Version where it is used. Can anybody explain this to a computer layman?

Lloffiwr (talk)19:58, 4 May 2012

I've expanded the docs, is it any clearer now? I think there's no need to translate it literally.

Nemo (talk)20:10, 4 May 2012

Not really to my poor brain. However, this is not a huge problem as the table sort of explains itself in a way. Thank you anyway for trying to explain a tech thing to a non-techie.

Typo in the English original message? It shows desription instead of description

555 (talk)23:51, 1 May 2012

In the message 'hid $1 on $2' $2 may be either something like Sitename or like date. According to this translation will be different in some languages. Does anyone know what is $2 inthis message

Robby (talk)15:47, 21 April 2012

It's probably a date but someone should double check.

What happened to the installer?

Hi, I just wanted to change a message, but was unable to find the extension via the translation tool. Was it deactivated somehow? Cheers

kgh (talk)12:58, 18 April 2012

Nice find. It's still somewhere, but not up for translation. This has to do with the Git migration I'm sure. We'll look into it and re-add it.

Siebrand18:01, 18 April 2012

Cool, I thought it might probably be something like that. Looking forward to Installer. :) Cheers

ParserFunctions has also vanished

kgh (talk)11:20, 22 April 2012

That's not been active for a while. Still needs some major maintenance no one's gotten to...

PLURAL needs to be swapped.

kgh (talk)19:56, 21 March 2012

Indeed, and the parameters need documentation.

SPQRobin (talk)00:01, 24 March 2012

Done.

Siebrand14:08, 14 April 2012

Fixed. Thanks.

Siebrand14:08, 14 April 2012

I am not absolutely sure, but I think that there is an namespace variable around which may be used instead of User:

kgh (talk)20:05, 21 March 2012

You mean ?

Siebrand06:48, 10 April 2012

In case that is the variable: Yes.

kgh (talk)09:22, 10 April 2012

Fixed. Thanks.

Siebrand14:01, 14 April 2012

This message should have PLURAL support, if possible. Cheers

Thanks! Reported in bugzilla:35972.

"Maybe you want edit" should read "Maybe you want to edit"

Thanks for the report. Fixed in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#change,4393. Not updated here, yet.

This message always stays untranslated/fuzzied unless the <br> tag is changed into <br />.

Length of translations shouldn't be restricted.

Nike (talk)13:26, 25 December 2011

Create a bug, tag it UI?

Siebrand17:51, 27 February 2012

In the text of this message the expression submit button is used. For me this expression is to general. It refers to the function of the button, not to the text of the button. There are some messages which have the word submit in their name. Which of them this expression submit button is referring to?

Thanks.

Michawiki (talk)19:49, 3 April 2012

Looks like the message is unused. I submitted a patch to remove it. https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#change,4389

There's a slash missing in second pre tag.

What are possible values for parameter $1? Thanks!

Toliño Fala aquí comigo 14:05, 14 March 2012

It is the name of a mobile carrier like Orange or Telenor.

What's the context. This sounds like an action, but the parenthesis confuse me.

Nike (talk)10:39, 29 December 2011

I have asked Ryan Lane for help.

This message should use PLURAL.

EugeneZelenko (talk)15:01, 28 December 2011

I'll make a code review comment.

Siebrand15:26, 28 December 2011

I have asked Fabrice Florin, product manager for this functionality, to make sure someone replies to this question.

Siebrand21:26, 12 January 2012

This issue has been resolved.
