Hi BivutiChakma. Welcome to translatewiki.net!

You can now start translating.

You should also check the portal for your language, the link is in the sidebar. Other useful pages are linked in the menu next to this message.

Your translations are transferred to the standard product every few days or every few weeks, depending on the product. Please notice that it may take longer before you see your translation in the actual product.

We wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Please leave any questions on Support (the link is also available on any page, in the navigation sidebar). Cheers!

Welcome!

Hi!

Welcome to translatewiki :)

I see that you've selected Chakma as one of your languages. Localization help with Chakma is indeed much-needed.

I've added a list of links to your user page under the title "Links for Chakma". I recommend going through that list item by item from top to bottom, and translating each item completely.

If you are working with friends, I recommend that each of you picks a different item in the list and complete it.

Please ask me or the Support page if you have any questions. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 18:08, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Aharoni,
Happy to help me in translation work on wiki. I am very interested to translate my language into others langauges, like English, Bangla, French, Hindi, Spanish etc.
Please tell me in detail how and where I start this? I would be glad if you give me few example of translation work here that mean
English: I am a Chakma Community people from Bangladesh.
Chakma: 𑄟𑄪𑄭 𑄌𑄋𑄴𑄟𑄳𑄦 𑄝𑄁𑄣𑄘𑄬𑄎𑄧𑄖𑄴𑄪𑄚𑄴 𑄌𑄋𑄴𑄟𑄳𑄦 𑄎𑄘𑄧𑄢 𑄟𑄚𑄬𑄭𑅁
Bangla: আমি বাংলাদেশ হতে একজন চাকমা সম্প্রদায়ের লোক।
What do you think?
Hope understand. BivutiChakma (talk) 01:47, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Are you experienced with editing Wikipedia or Wikidata in any other language? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 01:58, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
No! But if you teach me I can do it very strongly. BivutiChakma (talk) 08:54, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see that you have started translating the Most important messages! You are doing exactly the right thing, continue like that!
You have got the translation of the Most important messages into Chakma from 0% to 8%. This is very good progress. You can see this number at the bottom of the translation screen: notice the gray and blue bar. When you get close to 100%, you'll be able to start using the site with Chakma user interface. I recommend completing that, and then trying more advanced things. I'm here to guide you. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:54, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Aharoni,
Thank you so much for guiding me in translation work. I strongly believe I will do it within very short time. I hope your guideline progress me rapidly. BivutiChakma (talk) 11:51, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

"Project"

Hi!

Thanks a lot for your huge translation work. Thanks to this, you will soon be able to use Chakma as your user interface language!

A technical comment: There are several messages that have "Project:" in the beginning. For technical reasons, this word must be written in English. For example, if "About" is "𑄃𑄬𑄝𑄃𑄪𑄖𑄴" in Chakma, "Project:About" must be translated as "Project:𑄃𑄬𑄝𑄃𑄪𑄖𑄴". Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:50, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
Thanks for you update information. I will do it soon. BivutiChakma (talk) 13:13, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Copying English

Hi!

Thank you again for your translations.

Most of your translations look good, but a few of them were just complete copies of the English messages. I had to delete those, because they are unnecessary.

If you don't know how to translate something, don't copy the English text, but simply skip that message.

Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:59, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Aharoni
OK, I undestand.
Thanks for your guidance! BivutiChakma (talk) 12:09, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Namespaces

As I mentioned earlier, you are getting close to an important milestone: translating enough to make it possible to use Chakma as a user interface language. One of the necessary things to complete this configuration is namespace names.

Here's a table of namespace names in English. I also added a column with names in Bengali, so that you can easily compare to another language you may know.

In the "Chakma name" column, I have put some names that I've found in your translations. They may be right, but they may also be wrong, because these are just guesses.

Please edit this table and add the correct Chakma names in the end of each row.

You can find more information about namespace names and their meanings on the page Translating:MediaWiki#Translating namespace names in the section "Translating namespace names".

Hi
I updated this table in "Chakma name" column in the "Translating namespace names". Please take a look. BivutiChakma (talk) 17:52, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you!
I see that "MediaWiki" is 𑄟𑄨𑄓𑄨𑄠𑄧𑄃𑄪𑄃𑄨𑄇𑄨, and "MediaWiki talk" is "𑄟𑄨𑄓𑄨𑄠𑄃𑄪𑄃𑄨𑄇𑄨 𑄇𑄧𑄙". Is it correct, or should they be the same? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:28, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
In your thread "MediaWiki" is 𑄟𑄨𑄓𑄨𑄠𑄧𑄃𑄪𑄃𑄨𑄇𑄨, and "MediaWiki talk" is "𑄟𑄨𑄓𑄨𑄠𑄃𑄪𑄃𑄨𑄇𑄨 𑄇𑄧𑄙".
"MediaWiki" 𑄟𑄨𑄓𑄨𑄠𑄃𑄪𑄃𑄨𑄇𑄨 is correct. I update it soon. Please wait. I see it need only 5% to complete the translation work in Most important part. BivutiChakma (talk) 02:08, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Configuration questions

Some more questions about Chakma language configuration:

  1. What should be the fallback language? When a message is not translated, should it appear in Bengali, in English, or in some other language?
  2. Do you use the Indian number system, with lakh (1,00,000), crore (1,00,00,000), etc.? Or the Western system with million (1,000,000), billion (1,000,000,000)?
  3. Do you use Western numerals (12345) or Chakma numerals (𑄷𑄸𑄹𑄺𑄻)?

Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:20, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Aharoni
Thanks for your question.
  1. Fallback language must be in English. For example: The sentence "about Chakma language configuration" into Chakma " 𑄃𑄬𑄝𑄃𑄪𑄑𑄴 𑄌𑄋𑄴𑄟𑄳𑄦 𑄞𑄌𑄴 configuration". When a message is not translated, should it appear in English.
  2. Yes, we use the Indian number system, but its have few different. I have done rbnf in many years ago. Please see in detail: cldr/common/rbnf/ccp.xml at main · unicode-org/cldr · GitHub Also I am trying to some book translate into Chakma language. See more...GitHub - korero/corpora-ccp: Linguistic corpora in Chakma via Sascha Brawer
  3. We use Chakma numerals ( 𑄶 𑄷 𑄸 𑄹 𑄺 𑄻 𑄼 𑄽 𑄾 𑄿 etc).

Hi Aharoni,
I updated all translation and checked out again. I think all are OK now. I would be glad if you recheck and review the translation work from your end. If you think all are fine then you processed next step. What do you think? BivutiChakma (talk) 10:28, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great, thank you!
It will become possible to use translatewiki.net with Chakma user interface already this week, and next week it will also become possible on the Wikimedia Incubator.
The next things you can do are:
  1. Continue translating here according to the "Links for Chakma" list on your user page.
  2. Write encyclopedic articles in Chakma in the Wikimedia Incubator.
For both things, you should invite your friends to join and build a community of editors and translators.
Good luck! :) Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:05, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your update. I will follow your instruction. BivutiChakma (talk) 18:17, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Aharoni,
I update of few items in Babel section (completed 100%). Please check it out and review. If you think all are Okey, I request you could start next step for this Babel section translation work. BivutiChakma (talk) 02:04, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Babel looks OK.
Unfortunately, Section Translation can be used only after the Wikipedia in your language graduates from the Incubator to its own domain. You've already completed one condition for this, which is the translation of the Most Important messages here on translatewiki. The other condition is writing articles in the Incubator (and it must be done by multiple people and not only you). I saw that you've already started doing some things there, but much more is needed. Hi Aharoni,
Thank you for your information and guidance. I will do that in time. I saw the https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Portal:Ccp link few translation is missing. I attached the screenshot here. Please take a look the screenshot. Hope understand. How to fix it? Why is missing it? How can I find out it to fix it?

I think that the translation is already correct, but it isn't displayed here yet. It will probably start displaying correctly by June 6, after the next software update. If you still see it incorrectly by that date, please tell me. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:09, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
