Hi Noktonissian. Welcome to translatewiki.net!

You can now start translating.

You should also check the portal for your language, the link is in the sidebar. Other useful pages are linked in the menu next to this message.

Your translations are transferred to the standard product every few days or every few weeks, depending on the product. Please notice that it may take longer before you see your translation in the actual product.

We wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Please leave any questions on Support (the link is also available on any page, in the navigation sidebar). Cheers!

Namespaces

Hi!

Thank you for your work translating into Northern Thai!

Enough messages are now translated into Northern Thai, and it will probably be exported soon, so that you'll be able to use the Incubator in it.

To make proper configuration for your language, I'll need information about namespaces names. You can read about namespaces here: Translating:MediaWiki#Translating namespace names.

The (Central) Thai namespaces are:

  • Media: สื่อ
  • Special: พิเศษ
  • Talk: พูดคุย
  • User: ผู้ใช้
  • User talk: คุยกับผู้ใช้
  • Project talk: คุยเรื่อง$1
  • File: ไฟล์
  • File talk: คุยเรื่องไฟล์
  • MediaWiki: มีเดียวิกิ
  • MediaWiki talk: คุยเรื่องมีเดียวิกิ
  • Template: แม่แบบ
  • Template talk: คุยเรื่องแม่แบบ
  • Help: วิธีใช้
  • Help talk: คุยเรื่องวิธีใช้
  • Category: หมวดหมู่
  • Category talk: คุยเรื่องหมวดหมู่
  • Module: มอดูล
  • Module: คุยเรื่องมอดูล

Thanks for the quick response!

Some other questions:

  1. Do you use the Thai calendar (2564) or the Gregorian calendar (2021)?
  2. When an interface message is not translated into Northern Thai, should it appear in Thai, in English, or in some other language?
  3. Which digits do you want to use? ᪀᪁᪂᪃᪄᪅᪆᪇᪈᪉, 0123456789, or something else?
Amir E. Aharoni (talk)08:09, 21 December 2021

Hi,

I propose:

  1. Thai calendar (2564) since the majority of users are from Thailand. Also, due to the cultural and historical reasons.
  2. I suggest it sould remain in English, because the Thai translation is so confusing and it will also be confusing for the user. We had a lot of problem that (Thai) users (incorrectly) create pages using Thai script or Thai language, or bizarrely trying to transform This Wiki into some sort of Thai language Wiki.
  3. I choose ᪀᪁᪂᪃᪄᪅᪆᪇᪈᪉ for the cultural and historical reasons.

PS. This is, at first, my suggestions on the answers. I am waiting for a some more confirmations form other nod Wiki users. Which I will notify you again once it's confirmed.

Regards,

Noktonissian (talk)09:39, 21 December 2021

Hi,

For the final confirmation, after discussing with other nod Wiki users.

  1. Gregorian calendar (2021)
  2. English
  3. Using ᪀᪁᪂᪃᪄᪅᪆᪇᪈᪉

Hi!

Thank you for your contributions!

I put a list of important projects related to Wikimedia on your user page. I recommend completing the "Most used / Most important" project before translating other projects.
