Is this still the case? It seems like a Jira account is required before one can even see the form.
The new CLDR website and issue tracker often require JavaScript etc. where they're not supposed to. There are some issues filed about it. Having an account probably helps so I'll remove that sentence.
I'm not sure we've had any successful case of new locale creation in the past couple years, so I'm not sure what example to follow, but I can help whoever wants to try.
Good morning, I apologize in advance for the inconvenience. I am an admin of vec.wiki, I wanted to ask for information. Among the interwiki on the right of the page, by clicking, the names of the languages localized by continent come out. The Venetian language is found correctly on Europe, however it is official and spoken by 5 million people in southern Brazil (South America). I wanted to ask how it could be done to add it to that list too? https://glottolog.org/resource/languoid/id/vene1258 it is said that Vèneto is spoken in Brazil. Thank you very much in advance for your reply and a good job!
Looks like I've not been clear. You have to follow the instructions at http://cldr.unicode.org/index/lang-pop-data-updates , we don't manage this data.
Good morning and many thanks for the reply. I read what is written in the link you sent, but what should I do? All the links there are all broken, there is no possibility of contact. Could you please receive help in this regard?
The question is whether you have all the information required in the bullet list after "Requests to add or change language/population data must provide the following basic information". Do you? Linking glottolog is not enough.
What am I supposed to have? The law of the Brazilian states that officialize it? Which other online database should I link to with this written to get clear answers? I have never done these procedures and I have no idea how they should be done, for this reason I ask for greater understanding and collaboration .. thanks!
Where can I translate this LocalNames?
bugzilla:62861 (blocked) might be relevant, or not
According to our newly written documentation on Plural syntax, Plurals written in CLDR or Gettext must always include all the forms available for a language. But a review of the translations of this example reveals that past translations are all over the place, which in the absence of guidance is not surprising.
Can we fuzzy all translations using CLDR and Gettext plurals either in all languages or in just these languages not using the default, and link the comment to the documentation on Plural?
These are the translations which don't seem to follow the forms in the CLDR file on mediawiki:
- translation doesn't use the forms 'few' and 'many' - be, hr, pl
- translation doesn't use the form 'many' - ar, arz, ru, uk
- translation doesn't use the forms 'two', 'few' - br, sl
- translation doesn't use the form 'one' - hi
- translation doesn't use the form 'few' - lt
- translation doesn't use the form 'few', 'many' but extra unnamed form in both sr-ec and sr-el
- in tl the translation doesn't use 'one'. It uses 'sero=' instead of 'zero=' and there is no 'other' form
- hsb and dsb use 'zero', 'one', 'two', 'few', 'other' although they are not mentioned on the CLDR list.
- translation uses 'one' although this form is not defined on CLDR - hu, ja, ko, ms, tr, vi, zh-hans, zh-hant
Most of the translations, and the English source, use the form 'zero' regardless of whether 'zero' is included as a form for that language at CLDR.
Yes we should definitely do something about that. Unfortunately it is not high priority for us.
Where are languages names provided which we can get by {{#languages:xx|yy}}. I noticed that names of lot wikipedias languages are lacking in Esperanto. See w:eo:Ŝablono:Lingv/komparo1 (all red names). Thanks Arno Lagrange d 16:59, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi Arno. These are made available through CLDR data, the Common Locale Data Repository of the Unicode Consortium.
I tried to ask. I'm waiting for a result. Arno Lagrange d 23:19, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
The CLDR plural rules for Breton downloaded to the translate extension (rule S) is different to the rule listed at CLDR itself. Needs fixing?
Does mwr:114006 fix it?
