ISA - lost phrases and mistypes

Hi! Next phrase in the project footer is seems as lost in translations:

Further devopment supported by Wikimedia Sverige, SWITCH and Bern University of Applied Sciences.

Also "devopment" > "development"

Also typo: succesfull -> successful in the Wikimedia:Isa-ef1b0f-Update_Succesfull_!/en (see report by Bennylin )

Kaganer (talk)11:01, 14 May 2023

Why is "Successful" taking a capital in English ? That's unusual and not the recommended practice (and this is not an artwork title).

Verdy p (talk)11:04, 14 May 2023

Thanks Verdy. I informed the WM SW team of the issue.

Anthere (talk)09:40, 19 May 2023

Thanks for the reports! The typos are fixed in this patch. I've created a ticket for the missing translations at T340538.

Dear Anthere! You may adding "ISA" into babelbox; and also specify your location on the map. Then you may seen your geopoint at the ISA translators map in the Translating:ISA project page. Also You may encourage other translators follow to You ;)

You should have specified that the location on the map is not made on the Translating:ISA page itself: it is actually stored on the User page.

Any user can edit their page using the "Edit with form" tab at top of the page to select a location (only geographic coordinates) and save: this will insert the {{Location}} template in their user page (or update it with new coordinates). There are info on the template doc page: users are not required to use it or to provide exact location of their home or work place (there are some indications about what to choose). And they can change or remove it at any time they wish.

If there are coordinates given in parameter, the Location template renders a small map centered on that location and at moderate zoom level (about the size of a district or large city; for now the default zoom level of this map is static), rendered with the same width as Babelboxes ; By default this map floats on the right of the page content, like Babelboxes, but adding a parameter "float=left" can place it in the other side of the page, or "float=none" to not float it (it will then be a block flowing the page content because some users may want other placement, e.g. in a table cell with the correct size).

Seriously... I wish I could answer you and do whatever you are asking me to do. But the truth is... I understand nothing of what you are telling me. And I have no idea what to do.

So let’s go back to the basics....

You should have specified that the location on the map is not made on the Translating:ISA page itself: it is actually stored on the User page.’'

I should have mentioned that... where ? A wikipage ? A talk page ? Here ? Elsewhere ?

I just replied about the reply given by Kaganer. No offense, I did not ask you to do anything. It was just a comment about where ISA expects its translators to be located: not on the project page itself (on the link given by Kaganer), but in user pages (that's what you did not do for now, so the "instruction" given by Kaganer were not completely appropriate, if you did not figure out how to use them).

That's why I explained where you can do that, on your own user page, with the "Edit with form" tab shown at top, which will insert or update a {{Location|latitude, longitude}} on your user page, or remove it if you delete these coordinates. If you do that, you'll see a small map of your location on your user page, and your user page be categorized so that you'll be also visible on maps of translators for any project you've translated. But this is not a requirement : you can remove that location info, and you are not required to do that, as explained in the {{Location}} documentation which gives some hints (including for privacy consideration).

Then to be visible on the map about ISA, you can jsut add "ISA" in parameters of your {{#babel: ... |ISA}} : it will also display a box for this project, also showing the link to the project page (for now you've linked the project page itself, without using thix box which also registers you as a translator for that project by listing you in its associated Category:ISA translators (I did that for you on your user page, because you're developing/maintaining ISA itself).

Verdy p (talk)13:33, 1 March 2022

ok, I did that (so much for privacy...). I now see it :)

Anthere (talk)13:40, 1 March 2022

True, but this may be part of the source code, and that backslash was not separated from the translation unit, so we cannot remove it in translations without breaking the code. If the code is fixed in a beta branch, updated messages without these backslahsed would have to be uploaded again to TWN (where they will all still need review in all languages, even if they were just all modified without this backslash). Anthere should look at this in her repository for the ISA tool.

Hi! As i'm seen, words "Home" and "Help" from the site header is not present in translatable set.

Also in the phrase "Campaign update failed please try later!" needs "," before "please". (isa-398575-Campaign_update_failed_please)

Kaganer (talk)00:34, 3 February 2022

Hello Kaganer. Thanks for the report.

I opened the issue in Phabricator : https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T300982

Anthere (talk)15:56, 4 February 2022

Also in the isa-2a06c2-More_information_about_depicts is needs remove " " before ":"

Kaganer (talk)21:36, 5 February 2022

By way, the title image (Fisherman) also may be make localizable in Commons (SVG with a image-background).

Kaganer (talk)21:50, 5 February 2022

good point... I’ll see to that.
