Purge

How can i purge Special:ActiveLanguages/tr to see the last results? RuzDD (talk) 11:15, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

Why nobody answered my question? RuzDD (talk) 12:56, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
You cannot. It's updated automatically periodically. Nike (talk) 14:09, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
@Nike Can this feature be added as it exists on some other MediaWiki wikis? RuzDD (talk) 19:59, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
No. It's too slow. What would be the use case to need it updated more frequently? Nike (talk) 20:41, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
For example, sometimes I want to see the latest results, for example after making a lot of translations. RuzDD (talk) 14:24, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Translating Wikicontents to Ekpeye

Hello reviewers,

I would like to start translating into Ekpeye for Wiki projects. The Iso code is “ekp”. Umasoyee (talk) 13:55, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the request. I'll enable it soon. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:59, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Rename string titles

Project Translating:Lingua Libre SignIt - sign languages web extension.

Hello all, I would like to rename a part of my JSON keys on github, ex:

  • Now : "si-overlay-coreContent-left-contribute-label"
  • After: "si-modal-panelvideo-contribute-label"

The synchronisation is maintained by Github bot « Translatewiki ».
Is it ok to rename string titles/keys ?
Will it break synchronisation between i18n of SignIt on Github with its i18n on Translatewiki Translating:Lingua_Libre_SignIt ? Yug (talk) 18:44, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Ok, I found FAQ#Is_it_possible_to_rename_message_keys?.
If I understand well, I have to do the renames on my github, only on the en.json file. Then it will be propagated to other language by the translatewiki team or bot. User:Siebrand (?), please let me know if i'm correct. Yug (talk) 19:04, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
@Yug: That's right. Only change it in the en.json and qqq.json files, and everything else will be fixed by the bot. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 06:53, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
@Jon Harald Søby, @Siebrand, it's done on Github : commit 5d0b8b2.
There are about 15 strings to renames, strings patterns which I updated are as follow :
  • si-overlay-coreContent-left-novideo → si-panel-videos-empty
  • si-overlay-coreContent-left → si-panel-videos
  • si-overlay-coreContent-right-error → si-panel-definitions-empty
  • si-overlay-coreContent-right → si-panel-definitions
  • si-popup-history-noHistory → si-popup-history-empty
  • si-videosGallery-video → si-panel-videos-gallery-attribution

Punjabi translation for word "main" is wrong.

everyday Panjabi we say ਮੁੱਢਲਾ that means main, first, start etc. the translation shown ਮੁੱਖ is more of Hindi language, many Hindi migrants use Hindi instead of Panjabi in Panjab (India), so, it doesn't mean it is Panjabi. correction needed at many pages example MediaWiki:Mainpage/pa ਸੋਧਣਾ ਜਾਰੀ - translatewiki.net, ਤਰਜਮਾ ਕਰੋ - translatewiki.net

another word 'user' in Panjabi is called 'ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ' but Hindi word has been used at many places ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾ. We don't say that, only Hindi speakers in Panjab (India) say that.

People are using Google translate and Google is NOT right often. Google is using more Hindi words as Google doesn't have much data in Panjabi Language.

Hopefully someone will correct it as I don't have rights to correct it. Cabal (talk) 18:37, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

As the documentation on the "Main page" message says, it must be changed very carefully, and only if there is wide consensus for it. Have you discussed this with other editors who speak Punjabi? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
