23 translators and Japanese still in pretty bad shape

Hi. I am writing a nosy note to all Japanese translator. This is because I see that 23 users have got translator rights for Japanese, and the Japanese localisation for almost all of the products we have at Betawiki is still in quite an awful shape. I am wondering if you have any ideas why this could be? We usually see here that a locale can be flourishing when only a handful of translators are working on it, or even just one or two. If you think I can help out somewhere, please let me know. I would also urge you to take reponsibility, and make an effort you raise the completeness and quality of the Japanese localisation for the products that we have here. You can talk with your fellow Japanese translators on Portal_talk:Ja, and general support requests can be asked on Support. I hope to see many contributions and/or ideas by you soon. Cheers! Update parentheses

Thank you for helping Japanese translations by updating parentheses from () to （）. However, in some cases, we have used () intentionally for some reasons. Since those updates were done by bot, messages which need review are too many for us. Could you revert those updates? Then, if possible, providing a list of messages that use () would be more useful. --fryed-peach 17:49, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Can you please help complete the translation of the ContentTranslation extension? It will appear as a beta feature in the Japanese Wikipedia this month, and it would be great to have it fully translated.

Hello Fryed-peach, my impression is that you are somehow into the semantic web and Semantic MediaWiki. I am the main editor on Semantic MediaWiki and thus would like to invite you to work on the Japanese translations there. We had a helpful hand but it abandoned us. I think it is sad to see the documentation abandoned for a major language. Thus you help will be welcome appreciated. Cheers

Portal:Ja/お知らせや、mediawiki-lおよび/mediawiki-i18n mediawiki-i18nでお知らせした通り、 Thread:Portal talk:Ja/名前空間の翻訳、そろそろ再開しましょうの議論の結果、MediaWikiの日本語の名前空間名が変更されました。

修正の概要についてはThread:Support/Changing_Japanese_namespace_names_of_MediaWikiに詳しく書いてあり、既にmwr:66497で、Siebrandさんによってコミットされています。

MediaWiki関連の新規翻訳時にご注意ください。また、「talk」を「ノート」に訳した状態を見つけた場合、修正をよろしくお願いします。

MediaWiki:Newpageletter/ja、MediaWiki:Boteditletter/ja、MediaWiki:Minoreditletter/jaについて差し戻しを行っておられましたがこれらの編集は合意されたものではなく過去にもWikipedia:井戸端/subj/ウォッチリストの名称変更についてなどで問題にされていましたのでいったん最初期の状態まで戻しました。変更される場合はPortal_talk:Jaにて合意形成後にお願いいたします。--Web comic 07:23, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

ウィキペディアローカルの、しかも決着した話を持ちだされても困ります。編集合戦にするつもりはないので差し戻しはしませんが。

返答が遅くなってすみませんでした。決着した話とおっしゃっていますが、Portal_talk:Jaでこの編集に合意が得られた形跡はありませんが、どこにこの翻訳に対する合意があったのでしょうか？もし私が見落としていたのでしたら提示をお願いいたします。--Web comic 08:05, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

決着したというのは、日本語版ウィキペディアでのことを言っています。問題視されたのはあちらの方でですし、ローカルで書き換えるという解決策も実行され、「問題」は解決したと認識しております。

ここでは、翻訳の修正にいちいち合意を取り付けるということはやっていません。ウィキペディアの延長ではありませんから。影響の大きな変更に関しては事前に通知する仕組みが議論されているところですが。

全ての翻訳に合意を取り付ける必要がないとは思いますが、Wikipediaでの議論をきっかけにPortal_talk:Jaでも翻訳に関しての提案が提示された以上は、少なくとも議論の大元となった翻訳については合意を取り付ける必要があると考えますがいかがでしょうか？

この件が議論の大元となったという認識は持っていません。
